Following the example of the Premier Alliance which halts its Transpacific ?S5?service launched last June, the two carriers of the Gemini Cooperation also announced the withdrawal of their smallest loop, launched last June as ?P9?(Maersk) and?C6?(Hapag-Lloyd).
This service turns in six weeks using six Maersk-operated 4,250 ?5,040 teu ships calling at Xiamen, Busan, Long Beach, Xiamen.
While Hapag-Lloyd simply says that the ?P9 / WC6?will be terminated, Maersk mentions that this loop will be susped for the remainder of this year as part of ongoing network adjustments.
The Gemini partners already announced three blank sailings for the ?P9 / WC6?ervice in weeks 40, 41 and 42 due to the Golden Week holiday in China (1-8October).
They will offer a final sailing to Long Beach in week 39 with the 4,253 teu SYNERGYKEELUNG on 23 September ex Xiamen.
After the service suspension, Busan will still have direct connections with California (Los Angeles) via the ?P7 / WC5?and ?P8 / WC2?loops.
Cargo from Xiamen to California will be transshipped in Busan, using the regional Gemini ?sia Shuttle 14 / BS5?service. Busan will be reinstated in this regional North China ?Straits feeder service as from the of the September.
