President Trump Announces Oct. 1 Tariffs for Imports of Pharmaceuticals, Furniture and Heavy Trucks President Trump on Thursday night, Sept. 25, posted on Truth Social that he would impose tariffs on imports of pharmaceuticals, furniture, and heavy trucks, effective Oct. 1.
Specifically, President Trump will impose 100% tariffs on branded and patented pharmaceuticals entering the U.S., unless a company is ?uilding their Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant in America.?He defined building as ?breaking ground?and/or ?nder construction,? as a caveat for no tariff being applied.
President Trump said on Oct. 1 he will impose a 50% tariff on kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and related products, as well as an additional 30% tariff on upholstered furniture due to what he described as ?LOODING?of the U.S. market by these imports.
In addition, President Trump said on Oct. 1 he will impose a 25% tariff on imports of heavy trucks to protect U.S. manufacturers, such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, and others, citing the future of trucking in the U.S. for national security purposes.
