Chinese operator Hede Shipping this week launches a second China ?US West Coast service, dubbed ?DX? The new ?DX?adds to Hede Shipping? first deep sea liner service, the ?DS?service, which was launched in March. The HDS, which marked the Chinese carriers entrance to the Transpacific trade, offers weekly shuttles between Shanghai and Los Angeles with a fleet of about five 1,800 ?4,300 teu vessels. Meanwhile, the new ?DX?links the Central Chinese port of Ningbo and Los Angeles in the US West Coast. So far, Hede has only advertised two ships, the 1,738 teu HANSA DUBURG and the 2,741 teu PONA. The former is set to start the ?DX?maiden voyage when it sails from Ningbo on 25 September. The Chinese operator, a shipping division of Tangshan Port Industrial Group, currently operates a fleet of more than 40 vessels with sizes ranging from 300 ?4,300 teu. It covers domestic and international routes, primarily linking Tangshan with other ports in China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. Since March, Hede Shipping has also started linking Central China and US West Coast.
