Singapore-based SeaLead Shipping has announced a new direct liner shipping service connecting China and South Korea with California. This ?sia West Coast?service (?WC? will turn in five weeks calling at Nansha, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Long Beach, Busan, Nansha. This rotation is almost identical to the one of a former Transpacific ?WC?loop launched by SeaLead in August 2021 during the COVID pandemic when ocean freight rates were soaring and cargo demand was very strong . This ?WC?was closed in November 2022. A first sailing of the new ?WC?is scheduled on 16 June from Nansha. A second one will follow on 26 June and the aim is to offer weekly sailings with five ships. SeaLead? return to the Far East ?USWC trade comes at a moment that cargo demand is high again with freight rates continuing to rise. ?he introduction of the AWC service is a strategic response to the robust demand we?e seen in Transpacific trade,?stated SC Chan, Acting Head of SeaLead. With a double call at Busan, the South Korean market will hold a significant importance for the ?WC? After announcements last week by Wan Hai Lines and COSCO SHIPPING that they are launching new Transpacific loops, SeaLead? ?WC?is already the third service adding capacity between the Far East and the West Coast of North America this month.
