The US subsidiary of Korea? Samsung group filed a complaint with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) claiming HMM levied nearly 100,000 erroneous detention and demurrage ges during the COVID period.
The claim for compensation by Samsung Electronics America (SEA) is likely to run into several million dollars.
SEA, which already has outstanding claims against other carriers including COSCO, OOCL, ZIM and SM Line, alleges that from mid 2020 HMM began ?epeatedly and chronically failing to maintain just and reasonable practices in connection with its inland transportation obligations?
This included failing to timely remove SEA containers from US marine and intermodal terminals and failing to timely deliver SEA containers to their designated inland locations, said SEA. The US-based subsidiary also alleges the carrier ?egan dramatically increasing amounts for alleged D&D ges resulting from HMM? inland transportation failures?
