HMM will as from early May offer an additional Vietnam-China-Taiwan -USWC service by buying a fixed allocation of 250 teu slots (@10.5 tons average teu) per round voyage on every weekly sailing of the ?P1?loop, jointly operated by Wan Hai Lines and Ocean Network Express (ONE). This new ?P1?service will kick off on 8 May with a first call of the 10,010 teu ONE-tered SEASPAN BEYOND at Haiphong and succeeds to Wan Hai? standalone Asia-USWC ?A3?service which will be rebranded. The two main differences between the current ?A3?and the new ?P1?are that Haiphong will be added as additional port and that ONE will provide two 10,010 teu ships to replace the small 3,013 teu sister vessels WAN HAI 353 and WAN HAI 363. Currently, all seven vessels have already been earmarked to join the ?P1?which will turn in seven weeks calling at Haiphong, Cai Mep, Shekou, Xiamen, Taipei, Ningbo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland, Shekou, Haiphong. ONE? contribution will be two 10,010 teu vessels (SEASPAN BEYOND and SEASPAN BRAVO). Wan Hai has assigned four neo-panamax 13,250 ?13,450 teu ships to the ?P1?(including the newbuilding WAN HAI A16 which will join after delivery on 19 June), as well as the somewhat smaller 7,241 teu WAN HAI 723. The latter is expected to be replaced later on by one of the other four 13,450 teu newbuildings still under construction by Samsung Heavy Industries for the Taiwanese operator. HMM will also brand the service ?P1?and has agreed to take slots until the of March 2025 with no automatically renewed condition. Of note, Yang Ming which is partnering ONE and HMM in THE Alliance, has not included the ?P1?in its 2025 Transpacific offering.
